White Urban Outfitters Dress + Madewell Neck Scarf
I’ve got some super exciting news and I thought this would be the perfect post to share it! The Basics is now going to have a ‘Style” section! Yay! Yay for style! I’m incredibly excited about throwing a few of these posts out there every now and then so I can continue to share even more of my life with all of you!
Just to be clear, though, I am in no way saying I know anything about fashion (for those of you that know me and might be lol-ing). Yes, I spend most of my time in leggings and a sweatshirt, but every now and then I do wear a little something nice and decided I wanted to also put that information out there for the world to see and read about. J
Another motive in doing this is because sometimes I struggle with body image and taking/seeing photos of myself. I feel like I have a vision in my mind of what I look like and then I see pictures and realize I don’t actually look that way. I’m hoping that by facing my fears and putting this vulnerability out there, it will help me move past it.
Anyway, onto this fabulous dress from Urban Outfitters! I found it on one of my absolute favorite blogs, Advice From A Twenty Something. It’s super fun for summer and is so comfortable. I’m really into midi dresses and this is one that I think really works for my short legs. It’s made of linen, which is quickly becoming my favorite material this summer, and is lined. Typically, I hate lined dresses, but the liner is like a light cotton that isn’t static-y and doesn’t cling to me.
I ordered a medium in the dress, but wish I would have ordered a small, so I would say it runs a little big. Plus it does have an elastic back, which I usually don’t like, but the overall cuteness of this dress outweighed that con.
Now to address the elephant in the room… the neck scarf. I’m so in love with this neck scarf from Madewell. It’s only $12.50 and comes in a bunch of different colors. These little guys add such a punch of color and interest to a simple outfit like this one. You can tie them several different ways, but I’m partial to just rolling it and tying a cute knot.
