Exploring Lincoln: Subscribing to Bulu Box

I heard about Bulu Box for the first time in maybe 2012ish because a friend had subscribed. She told me it was this cool box that was delivered to her apartment every month that had all kinds of healthy snacks and supplements in it. Well, fast forward to 2016 and I met Paul Jarrett, its co-founder, because the company I was working for at the time invited him to speak to employees about innovation. Now here I am in 2017 writing about Bulu Box. What a small world!

Even though I had heard about Bulu Box and had met one of its founders, the truth is, I had never received one of its boxes before. Because I’m trying to get to know my city better and Bulu Box was was born in Lincoln, I knew this was the perfect time to experiment. Subscription boxes are everywhere now and you can get them for anything — from clothes to dog treats — but Bulu Box was one of the very first subscription boxes. Ever. Who knew such cool things happened right here in Lincoln, Nebraska?

Bulu Box was kind of enough to send me two of its boxes — one for folks who might be trying to lose a few pounds (little did they know I’m their target audience for this) and then a more typical box for someone who just lives a healthy lifestyle and might be looking for products that fit into that. So, here are a few of my favorites from each box. All opinions are my own and even though something worked for me, doesn't mean it's right for you.

I have to start with my favorite food from the boxes. This little candy bar, ChocoRite, must be some kind of miracle because it only has 100 calories, 4 grams of sugar, and 13 whopping grams of fiber. It reminded me of 100 Grand bars and I LOVE 100 Grand bars. They even come packaged like 100 Grand with two little bars in each wrapper. If I'm ever craving chocolate, but don't want to completely fall off the wagon, this would be a fantastic option.

These little babies from Frownies are my favorite non-food products I found in the boxes. The first product, Ph-Balancing Complexion Wash, is made 100% of Essential Oils with no artificial anything. The long skinny tube is for your lips and eyes and can help with aging and provide anti-oxidant benefits if you use it consistently. I absolutely love it for my lips. I'm a big lip balm user, but whenever I apply regular chapstick and then go into a meeting or talk excessively (this happens a lot), all the balm seems to gather in the corners of my mouth and makes this white film on my lips. It's not attractive. The Immune Shield (long skinny tube) doesn't do this at all! So needless to say, I put it in my purse right away when I got these boxes and I use it constantly.

Bulu Box didn't know this when they sent me these boxes, but I am THE popcorn fanatic. It's a staple in my diet. So, when I opened the boxes and two bags of popcorn were right on top, you could say I was excited. My favorite of the two is probably the sea salt. It's the basic popcorn that all of us popcorn addicts need to get through the day. The Cinnabon flavor though, if you're into cinnamon rolls, you will go crazy for this. It's the most real cinnamon roll flavor I've ever tasted that's not an actual cinnamon roll.

I was really happy to see a probiotic supplement in one of the boxes. I've read a lot about them and have heard people say positive things. I could always deal with a little less bloat in my life, that's for sure. I think I can safely say that taking one Hyperbiotics PRO-15 a day has given me the extra boost I needed in the bloat and digestive department.

I'm so thankful for all the chocolate that was in these boxes. When you're trying to be healthy it's really nice to be able to eat more than chicken and broccoli. This dark Belgian chocolate called Lavlé is actually good for you and you're supposed to eat one of these mini bars every day. I had absolutely no problem doing this. Health benefits include improved blood circulation and brain health. Yep, I'm on board.

Ok, don't judge me here, guys, but another one of my favorite finds was a cleanse and detox supplement. I think when you're just starting out a new lifestyle (not diet because I hate that word), it's important to clean everything out and start fresh.

I hope that gives you a preview of what you can find in a Bulu Box. Whether you're looking to lose weight or just start a healthier lifestyle, you can definitely find something that works for you. Annnd, if you do find something you like and want more of it, you can go to bulubox.com and order any of the products you get in your box. For me, that would be more of Frownies.

Here's a peak at my full boxes and more of the products I received:

Thank you to Bulu Box for providing two of its subscription boxes for this post!
