Exploring Lincoln: Eating Helping Oats
I loved finding out about the gem that is Helping Oats. I was at a networking event put on by Rise Lincoln, when someone asked me if I had heard of it. I hadn’t, but I love oatmeal so I knew I had to look into it ASAP.
Turns out Helping Oats is a small business serving gourmet oatmeal started by Anne Bachmann. Anne is still a student so it’s absolutely incredible she’s been able to grow such an awesome business. She doesn’t have a brick and mortar, but does pop ups at popular places around Lincoln like The Bay and Goldenrod Pastries.
Goldenrod Pastries is where I was able to finally get my hands on some of Anne’s oats. She had a pop up there last Saturday from 9 am – 12 noon. The menu changes, but that day she had:
The Best Bowl (oats, sweet and salty peanut butter sauce, homemade pretzel crunch and banana)
Italian Sausage & Parmesan (with rosemary and cracked pepper)
Brown Sugar & Cinnamon
Cranberry Orange Overnight Oats (with cashew butter)
Peanut Butter Overnight Oats (with banana)
I pretty much wanted to try one of everything, but unfortunately because of my perpetual lateness, by the time I got there she only had the overnight oats left. Lucky for me the cranberry and orange overnight oats flavor was in my top two, so I was really excited to try it.
So incredibly delicious. I had never had overnight oats before either, which made this experience that much better. I’m a big fan of cranberry and orange too, so let’s just say Helping Oats was a huge homerun for me.
